Concept information
Preferred term
atomic absorption spectrometers
Definition
- Machines which detect the amount of light absorbed by atomized samples, in promoting electrons to higher orbitals. The wavelength of light absorbed is characteristic to each element, and can thus be used to determine the chemical composition of samples.
